We are proud and just a little frightened to be launching this new website! Living as we do, submerged in history, sometimes the more modern aspects of bringing the past to the public can be a whole new adventure for us! We are proud of the new exhibits that we have been able to bring to our museum lately, and are sometimes a bit on the heartbroken side when the public doesn't come in to see what we've been doing. If we can borrow from science fiction a bit- "Its bigger on the inside."
In this blog we hope to start featuring bits of history, old artifacts from the museum, new displays, upcoming classes, and more. Our wish is that you will see a glimpse of what we have to offer on the inside and be inspired to come and visit in person. Because of the great reaction for the T.G.& Y. exhibit we were inspired to create a permanent display from a temporary one. Show us what you want to see by visiting the museum and letting us know why you are there. Right now we have two terrific temporary exhibits one on WWII and our local heros from that war, and another that is on Victorian and Edwardian Working class dresses. You can probably not see that many original pioneer dresses from 1870-1910 at once anywhere in the state. Either is worth the small price of the admission fee by itself, but if you take a look at our Museum Displays links and then to add a visit to the Seay Mansion for no additional fee? We'd say you found yourself a real bargain! So please keep an eye out on our Special Events and this Blog. We think you will find a real gem, not so far from home.
